A Note from Lloyd

Dear Visitor:

I'll never forget my first job in publishing. In fact, it was my first job anywhere and once I realized what a wonderful industry it was, I never wanted to work in any other environment.

Publishing and the Arts - creating new ideas and expressions in all kinds of mediums: books, magazines, newsletters, CD-ROM's, software, film and videos, paintings, illustrations, and now, the new world of the Internet.

Publishers, authors, artists, - creative, passionate, and committed. People who generously share their knowledge and know-how. People who care about their products, their people, and their profession.

This is what the world of creative expression is to me and always will be. So, after spending 25 years being a publisher, why did I decide to enter the legal profession?

Because I wanted to give something special back to the publishing and arts community. I want to help publishers and artists protect their works. To help negotiate fair and equitable contracts. To help keep people out of the courts and enable them to employ their time, energy and money into building their businesses. Time to publish and create new ideas, in new mediums, for new markets.

Over the years, I have had the pleasure of working with publishers and other creative people from all over the country and to tell you the truth, I love my job.

Today's world of intellectual property is changing so rapidly that it is a challenge for all of us to keep up with the latest developments in the law, in the courts, and in the industry itself. So, one of my personal missions in life is to help people like you, keep abreast of these changes and this is why I speak at seminars and write articles for newsletters and journals, and sponsor The Publishing Law Center web site.

And, if and when you need expert legal advice from a lawyer who's been in your shoes, I hope you will think of calling me. I promise I will provide you the best, most cost-effective legal advice and service available today.

Regards,

Lloyd L. Rich
